Ismet talks about the concepts of the spiral mindset, circular vs straight movement and the meaning of the traditional thought of combining heaven and earth. He explains the differences of other martial arts, their approach to direction and mindset and his view on internal vs external martial arts. He then goes into the history and origin of Bagua Zhang, the development of the many Bagua styles and Dong Hai Chuan and his seven disciples.
Sometimes the best way to understand a concept is to leave all the theory behind and do something practical. In this lesson, you will learn how to apply the concepts of Bagua Zhang in order to help you understand what is inside the movements.
Now its time for you to learn the first basic exercise that will build a strong foundation for your Bagua Zhang practice. Ismet will teach you the correct way to align your body internally and externally according to the principles of Bagua Zhang. We have included a guided standing meditation session for you to practice along with.
This walking meditation together with the standing meditation lays the ground work for what Bagua Zhang is most famous for. The Circle Walking. Ismet will teach you a method that you can use to make this your second nature. After this lesson, you will be ready to make the next step.
After you have internalized the structure of the standing meditation and the step work of the Circle walking, you will learn how to combine them into four variations of Qi Gong exercises called the Mother Palms. They will not only teach you the walking meditation and Qi Gong but will also layout the proper foundation for more complex and challenging movements in the 1st form. In fact, the Mother Palms are so important and essential that if you would stop this course right here you would have already 80% of Bagua Zhang.
Now its time to have some fun! You will learn all the crazy moves and elements Bagua Zhang is famous for. The 1st form has 8 Palms that are building on top of each other and slowly increase the challenge and level of complexity.
